It's the end of the world as we know it, according to the Mayan calendar, and spoofed by the Simpson's.
For a quick history review: Quetzalcoatl (ket-tsul'kwot-ul) the "plumed or feathered serpent," taught the ancient Mayans the necessary skills to advance their civilization, from mathematics and science to agriculture and astronomy, as well as the famous Mayan calendrical formulae which predicts the end of the world to be December 21st, 2012.
